The Bible

The Bible is the inspired, divinely-breathed Word that God has given to humanity.  It is “profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and  teaching  righteousness.: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

We find inspiration and revelation from the Bible, to make visible the unseen. God’s word is described in Hebrews 4:12 as “living and active” and not merely for knowledge or to learn Bible facts. The Word of God has taken on life! That life produces good health, the ability to be fruitful, prosperity and success. The Word of God cleans us. It delivers from all that would have us bound.

David said in Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” It is essential for us to recognize the importance of internalizing God’s word within our hearts, so that when unexpected challenges arise in life attempting to sway our thoughts, we can find reassurance in the scriptures.

Here are several passages to uplift you as you engage in reading your Bible.

  • God’s word shows us how to live a holy and righteous life amongst a world of unbelievers. Romans 12:2

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

  • God’s shows us how to be born again – converted – transformed from darkness into the marvelous light that He has created for the righteous. 1 Peter 2:9

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;”

  • God’s word shows us how to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 3:16

“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;”

  • God’s word is a refuge, giving us a way of escape in trouble. Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

  • God’s word shows us how to conduct our lives. Ephesians 4:32

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

  • Do what the Bible says: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says” James 1:22-24.

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
